Argentina raises biodiesel prices

On Monday, Javier Milei’s government authorized a new increase in the mandatory purchase prices of biodiesel and bioethanol used for Argentina’s fuel blending program, putting further upward pressure on pump prices. The measures, published in the Official Gazette through Resolutions 485/2025 and 486/2025 and signed by Energy Secretary María Carmen Tettamanti, set the following prices effective for all December 2025 transactions:

  • Biodiesel (for mandatory 10% diesel blend): ARS 1,775,230 per ton (≈11.5% increase from November)
  • Sugarcane-based bioethanol (for mandatory gasoline blend): ARS 963,926 per liter
  • Corn-based bioethanol: unchanged at ARS 883,464 per liter

Payment terms were also tightened: biodiesel must be paid within 7 days of invoicing, while bioethanol producers have up to 30 calendar days. The hike marks the 12th consecutive monthly increase since Milei took office and will almost certainly translate into higher gasoline and diesel prices at the pump in the coming weeks, adding to already elevated inflationary pressures for Argentine drivers.
