ISCC, OMV and Airbus Partner to Advance SAF Market Development
Scaling Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) remains one of the aviation industry’s biggest challenges. Addressing this requires close cooperation across the entire value chain, supported by reliable frameworks that help bring SAF to market more effectively.
In this context, the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) has partnered with OMV and Airbus to support the further development of the global SAF ecosystem. The collaboration focuses on the Book & Claim chain-of-custody model, which allows companies to claim the sustainability attributes of SAF without requiring the physical delivery of the fuel to a specific location. This approach helps overcome current infrastructure limitations and enables broader participation in the SAF market.
ISCC will contribute its expertise in sustainability certification, traceability, and greenhouse-gas accounting. As part of the pilot project, Airbus will take on a new role as a coordinator within the ISCC credit transfer system, facilitating transactions between supply-chain participants such as airlines and corporate partners.
The partnership aims to strengthen transparency, credibility, and trust in SAF markets while supporting scalable solutions for the aviation sector’s decarbonization.
