U.S. biodiesel production reaches record high in June

The U.S. clean fuels industry achieved a major milestone in June, according to new data released by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and highlighted by Clean Fuels Alliance America. Domestic biomass-based diesel production reached a record 494 million gallons during the month, reflecting strong growth in renewable fuel manufacturing.

Renewable diesel production climbed to an all-time monthly high of 327 million gallons, while biodiesel output reached its highest level since December 2024. Industry capacity utilization also increased to 86%, indicating that producers are ramping up operations to meet rising demand.

The production surge follows the EPA’s release of the 2026-2027 Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program in late March. The higher blending requirements have provided greater market certainty and encouraged producers to expand output.

Clean Fuels Alliance America credited EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins for supporting renewable fuel policies that strengthen domestic energy security and create economic opportunities for rural communities.

Donnell Rehagen, CEO of Clean Fuels Alliance America, said the record production demonstrates that the industry can successfully meet the historic RVO targets. He also praised farmers, feedstock suppliers, processors, and fuel producers for working together to expand U.S. renewable fuel production and reinforce the country’s clean energy supply chain.
