Neste and United Airlines Expand SAF Partnership to Three Major U.S. Airports

Neste and United Airlines have expanded their sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) partnership to include three major U.S. airports: George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). With this move, United becomes the first commercial airline to use SAF at these locations.

Under the agreement, Neste will supply pure Neste MY SAF, which will be blended with conventional jet fuel before use. The SAF is transported via existing pipeline infrastructure from Neste’s terminal in Houston. Deliveries began at IAH in July 2025 and started at EWR and IAD in September, expected to continue through the end of 2025.

This marks an extension of the companies’ long-standing collaboration. Since 2024, Neste has supplied SAF to United at Chicago O’Hare, and through California’s LCFS program, at San Francisco International Airport. United used over 4,300 metric tons of SAF last year, maintaining its lead in the U.S. SAF market. The airline continues to advocate for supportive state and federal policies. Neste emphasizes the importance of policy incentives and production expansion to help the aviation industry achieve its 2050 net-zero emissions target.
