In Singapore, Aster and Aether Fuels have signed an agreement to develop Southeast Asia’s first next-generation commercial-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production facility at Aster Pulau Bukom Industrial Park. The project combines Aether’s cutting-edge fuel conversion technology with Aster’s extensive operational expertise in Singapore’s integrated refining and petrochemical complex, positioning the nation at the forefront of energy transition and decarbonization while strengthening its role as a regional hub for sustainable industrial innovation.
Aether Fuels’ commercial demonstration project, known as Project Beacon, will utilize its proprietary Aurora™ technology, capable of producing up to 50 barrels of fuel per day (approximately 2,000 tons annually). The process converts industrial waste gases and biomethane into CORSIA-certified SAF, achieving over 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional jet fuel.
Project Beacon is scheduled to begin construction in 2026 and commence commercial operations in 2028, marking the first commercial-scale project in the Asia-Pacific region to produce SAF from waste gases and biomethane — offering a scalable and replicable pathway toward global low-carbon aviation.
