Shell Secures Exclusive SAF Offtake Deal for 150,000-Ton Moroccan Project
Shell Aviation announced on November 2 that it has signed a long-term sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) offtake agreement with Green Sky Manara LLC, a subsidiary of Green Sky Capital, for a planned HEFA biofuel facility at Port Nador, Morocco.
The facility is expected to begin operations in October 2028, with an annual production capacity of approximately 150,000 metric tons of SAF or equivalent hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), alongside bionaphtha and biopropane. Under the agreement, Shell will serve as the exclusive offtaker for the facility’s output.
The deal follows a similar long-term arrangement involving Green Sky Capital’s planned HEFA facility in Egypt, which is expected to supply up to 145,000 metric tons of SAF annually from the end of 2027.
Together, the two projects highlight Green Sky Capital’s growing presence in North Africa’s renewable fuels sector. They also strengthen Shell’s global SAF supply portfolio, which includes sourcing agreements with producers in Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand and the United States.
Shell currently supplies SAF at more than 80 airports across 18 countries, leveraging its established trading, logistics, blending and distribution network to connect producers with aviation customers.
